Last night right before bed I noticed that there was a narrow green caterpillar munching away on the Passiflora 'Susan Brigham' leaves outside my bedroom window. It had already denuded one leave and was working on the next. It kind of made me sad that it was eating the plant that I had cared for and was hoping would continue to grow and bloom, but it was also nice to think that the plants are attracting and sustaining life, other than the hummingbirds that visit the flowers
I don't know enough about larvae to tell if it would grow into a butterfly or a moth. It kind of looks like a Prominent (brown moth) but I don't know if those eat Passionflowers, which in general are kind of poisonous.
Here's a picture.
